We are delighted to let everyone know that Tim our Deputy manager at our Fitzherbert Arms has successfully passed his Beer Sommelier assessment exam on Friday 28th November in Sheffield. Well done, Tim! You are now officially an accredited Beer Sommelier!
We are so proud of Tim, he has been through some tough training and exams over the last year but passed with flying colours.
Tim joins an elite group at the Guild of Beer Sommeliers which is operated in association with Cask Marque, who visit our pubs regularly to assess the quality of our Cask Ale, which is at the heart of our drinks act. Cask ale is the most sustainable pint on our bars because we work with local micro-brewers from within 35-mile radius of each pub….supporting local business and employment. It is the freshest pint on the bar and the most reasonably priced pint too with a mass of styles, colours and flavours. A pub is not a pub without cask ale…it is woven into our heritage!
Tim is a great ambassador and long may he pour pints with pride!

A great night at the Pub and Bar Magazine Awards in London! The Cholmondeley Arms had already won the County of Cheshire in the Awards a month or so ago. Manager Helen and Deputy manager Leigh headed to London to see if the Cholmondeley Arms Team could go one further and win the Northwest region. Great news! The Chum won it! We now have the honour of ‘Best in the Northwest’ back within our Company Cheshire Cat. We held the honour previously with our sister pub the Church Inn back in 2021. Owners Tim and Mary were at the awards too along with Rebecca and Connor from our Fitzherbert Arms who had been chosen as Best in Staffordshire for the third year running!
